To the puppy I will never forget
The heading on the front page and the picture caught my eye,
I didn’t want to breakdown but my heart would not comply.
A story of a young bitch, still of tender years,
Beaten, starved and neglected, her life knew all the fears.
They found her lifeless body dumped in a rubbish
bin,
Her owners showed no mercy for this nasty evil sin.
A picture of her sister was also on the page,
Playing with their breeder, who spoke about her rage.
She sold the pup to good people but they had
passed her on,
When work and money problems had broken up the home.
She was only in the next house for a week or maybe less,
They then passed her on when she’d made an awful mess.
So off she went again to owner number three,
If only time could go back, id wish she’d come to me.
Her life would have been so different, gentle training on a lead.
A warm bed to lye in, all the loving she would need.
But her short life was never happy; no one ever
really cared,
For the puppy with the brown eyes all that love she might have shared.
Her lifeless little body I can never really forget
But do you think the breeder ever really showed regret
Is the breeder really caring or is it money on
her mind,
When the ad’s go in the paper for the homes that she must find
Because the story goes on, the breeder always has pups to sell
Every month, never thinking about the homes that could be hell
So if you want a puppy a contract you must sign,
If you won’t write your name then the puppy will stay mine.
I will always find a good home; I will phone and visit you
Ask the people that really know me, they’ll confirm that this is true.
